Chateau de Labourdonnais
Arrive at Chateau de Labourdonnais, the iconic Château de Labourdonnais offers you the chance to immerse yourself into the 19th century art of living, along with a visit to the estate and enjoy complimentary juice and rum tasting. You will witness the French charm of the place and also get to learn about the Rhumerie and other products manufactured on the estate. As you roam the estate gardens, you may even have the chance to spot the Aldabra Tortoises enjoying their royal life.
Next drive to Paul et Virginie Monument
Learn about the romantic story of Paul et Virginie, a small monument marks the spot at Poudre d’Or where the ship sunk. ‘Paul et Virginie’ was inspired by the shipwreck, Mauritius is home to the famous love story of Paul and Virginie, a novel written by the French writer Bernardin de Saint-Pierre. The novel follows the lives of the two main characters, Paul and Virginie the tale of two childhood friends who eventually fall in love.
Bras d’eau National Park
Transit to Bras d’eau National Park, explore the trails, enjoy the natural beauty and take a leisurely walk to admire the diverse Fauna and Flora of the park. Bras d’eau National Park harbours patches of native vegetation as well as our endemic birds. Hike in nature and make Bras d’eau a picnic spot. Walk 3 Kilometres to find the ‘Coq Du Bois Loop which has an impressive orchard with fruits trees. You can also admire the ruins of an old sugar mill which shut down operations in 1867.
Red Church at Cap Malheureux
Drive to Cap Malheureux to visit the red church also known as Notre Dame Auxiliatrice which is the one of the most photographed sights on the islands. Anyone can pop into the church.
The church is famous for its red roof offering the breath-taking views of the coin de mire island. A popular site for wedding and wedding photoshoots.
