Chamarel’s Seven Coloured Earth is a natural wonder and a true emblem of Mauritius. This incredible sight features red, green, purple, brown, violet, and yellow sands set amidst lush vegetation. The Geopark spans over 8.5 hectares, encompassing forest, rivers, and waterfalls. Legend has it that if you scramble up the seven coloured sands, they will rearrange themselves by color in a matter of hours, reflecting the natural pattern of rainfall in Chamarel over thousands of years.

Highlights of Chamarel Geopark

Chamarel Waterfall

The tallest waterfall in Mauritius, standing at about 100 meters high, the Chamarel Waterfall is a breathtaking sight. Fed by the Saint Denis River, which receives water from three different streams, the waterfall's powerful rush adds to the excitement of the visit.

Aldabra Tortoises Park

Spend some peaceful moments with the gentle Aldabra tortoises, who have lived for over a hundred years. These quiet companions are a highlight of the Geopark and enjoy visits from tourists, especially when offered leafy greens.

Le Café de Chamarel Coffee Plantation

Tour the local Arabica coffee plantation, established in 1967, and learn about the only coffee that is locally grown and roasted in Mauritius. Spread over 16 hectares and positioned 280 meters above sea level, the plantation offers stunning views, perfect for photography.

Restaurant and Souvenir Shop

Adjacent to the Seven Coloured Earth, the restaurant offers a perfect spot to take a break and enjoy local snacks, refreshing beverages, and homemade ice cream.
