Scuba diving is a sport when a person dive to explore the ocean by using breathing equipment's to reach deep in the sea to see the beauty of the ocean and to interact with sea creatures and multi-coloured marine life. The diving last for 2 hours in the sea, a lifetime experience to explore the shipwrecks dating back to the 18th and 19th centuries, as well as some ships sunk more recently which created beautiful artificial reefs. Both beginners and certified divers can be sure to have safe enjoyable dive.

Diving in the north of Mauritius is an undiscovered secret that exceeds your expectations. Explore the beautiful soft corals, school of fishes, exquisite coral reefs, and a wide array of marine life including reef sharks, turtles and dolphins. Whether it is Trou aux biches, Grand Baie or Mahebourg the island is lucky to enjoy diving all year through. You will need to train under an instructor. The instructor will give you lessons just like a regular class. After the lessons, you will have to prove your knowledge by taking a test. You will also learn the techniques, procedures, and safety drills for simple dives as well as basic underwater hand gestures. Additionally, you will also receive some physical training by diving in a swimming pool or shallow waters.

Scuba diving in Mauritius is well supervised and of good standards making it quite safe for both beginners and certified divers. From the isolated shipwrecked beaches to the exotic and magnificent coral reefs, Mauritius has some of the most spectacular diving spots for the enthusiastic scuba divers who can experience the underwater adventure at its best at this location.

Practice using scuba gear in a pool or pool-like environment until you're comfortable. PADI training includes practice "mini dives" to help you build confidence in your new abilities before making four dives in open water.

Diving is done all around the island, although some say the north and west coasts are the best. A barrier reef encircles almost the entire island, creating a shallow lagoon reef good for beginner divers. On the other side of the barrier reef, caverns and crevasses make for interesting bottom topography. The waters around Mauritius boast more than 430 marine species and 200 coral species, several of which are endemic to the island.
